The Apprenticeship

Training in the Craft: three paths, one tradition

Private 1:1 apprenticeship in the Western mysteries: Thoth tarot, ceremonial method, and disciplined practice. This is not a course you watch. It is a practice you keep, with a teacher who checks the work.

Who This Is For

The shape of the work

The Seldom Dreams apprenticeship is private 1:1 training, not a course or a fixed curriculum. There is no template syllabus you are dropped into. Each tier is built around your path: what you already carry, what you are reaching for, and what is being asked of you next.

The tiers differ in three ways. The hours: five, ten, or fifteen hours of direct 1:1 time. The depth of access: higher tiers add ongoing communication between sessions and priority scheduling. The expectation of the apprentice: higher tiers ask more of you.

This is for the seeker willing to do the practice between sessions, not just attend them. It is not for passive curiosity. And if what you actually want is a single reading, book a Private Consultation instead. This is something else.

Choosing

Which tier is yours right now

Ask yourself three questions, in order.

First: do you have a sustained practice already? Not casual interest. A daily card pull, a regular ritual, time set aside for the work and kept. If not, begin at the Initiate Path. It is built for the seeker whose practice has not yet taken root.

Second: can you name your lane? Some practitioners are readers. Some are ritualists. Some specialize in manifestation, shadow work, dream work, or symbolic analysis. If you cannot name yours yet, the Magus Path is home. Specialization is the core of that tier's work.

Third: do you have a system? A reproducible, personal method that produces consistent results for yourself and others, without leaning on anyone else's framework. If yes, you are ready for the Ascendant Path. If not yet, the Magus is still home.

The three tiers are sometimes described as a ladder, but the truer shape is a spiral. The Initiate's daily practice never goes away; the Ascendant's training is the discipline of returning to the basic things with the depth of a master. Choose the tier your practice can sustain. The work will deepen on its own from there.

In Their Words

From students of the work

“Avery is in my opinion one of the best tarot readers. This man is tapped in… I've been following him for the past year. His readings have brought me a lot of guidance, clarity and wisdom.”
— Tasche R.
“Avery is beast-level tapped in to the Oracle. Precise, poetic and potent. He was the inspiration that I started up my own studies in esoteric tarot. Grateful for all you be, teacher.”

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly

Do I have to start with the Initiate Path?
No. If your practice already has a foundation, you can begin at the Magus tier, and if your practice is already at that level, at the Ascendant. The first session is partly used to establish where you actually are.
How much time does it ask outside of sessions?
The work assumes you practice between sessions: a daily pull, the assigned workings, the reading. Sessions are scheduled flexibly across the tier's window of two to five months, so the pacing is built around your life rather than a rigid syllabus.
What if I don't know my path yet?
Most apprentices arrive unsure. Identifying the path is part of the work, not a prerequisite.
Can I train from outside the US?
Yes. Most apprentices work remotely by call or messaging. In-person sessions can be scheduled at the Willimantic, CT location by request.
How does payment work?
Each tier can be paid in full at checkout, or split into installments via Shop Pay. The installment option appears automatically at checkout.
What is the scheduling and refund policy?
Sessions are used within the tier's window. Rescheduling asks for 5+ hours notice; sessions missed by 10+ minutes are forfeited. There are no refunds once training has begun. That is one reason the highest tier starts with a conversation instead of a checkout.
What is the real difference between Magus and Ascendant?
Magus is the tier where you specialize and refine. You find your lane and build a system around it. Ascendant is where you stop following anything: your system becomes fully yours, and you are trained to operate without external scaffolding.
Why is the Ascendant Path by application?
Fifteen hours across four to five months asks a real commitment from both sides. A short conversation before enrollment makes sure the fit is right. It filters mismatch, not seriousness. If you already know you are ready, direct enrollment from the product page remains open.

The Ascendant Path

Apply for the Ascendant Path

The Ascendant Path is fifteen hours of direct work across four to five months. It asks the most of both of us, so it begins with a short conversation instead of a checkout button. Tell me where your practice stands and I will reply personally within two business days.

Ready without the conversation? You may also enroll directly from the Ascendant Path product page.
